Michael Welch: DUI

A Shreveport police officer has been suspended after being arrested over the weekend for DWI. Police said he was off-duty but in his patrol car at the time.

Michael Welch, 32, was stopped about 3:30 a.m. on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop after police got a complaint about the driver of a marked patrol car.

Welch is a three-year veteran who was assigned to the patrol division.
