Rodney Cummings: Traffic

Rodney Cummings mugshot A second arrest has been made in the hit-and-run case involving a Haines City teenager.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says Rodney Clem Cummings, 37, was in the car with wife Candy Cummings, 20, on Friday when she hit and killed 17-year-old Samantha Hasting.

Deputies say Candy told them she knew she hit something but didn’t know what it was. She said she was afraid to report it because she didn’t have a valid driver’s license.

Investigators say Rodney knew that his wife did not have a valid driver’s license at the time. He has since been arrested on charges of permitting unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle and violation of probation on a prior charge of illegal dumping.
